The Kyiv Independent is Ukraine’s main English-language news outlet. It was founded in November 2021 by a team of reporters and editors who were fired from the Kyiv Post for defending editorial independence, in partnership with a media consultancy company Jnomics. Today it’s a team of around 65 people, based mostly in Kyiv. Publishing in English, we serve as Ukraine’s voice in the world and the world’s window into Ukraine.

Обов'язки

• management of accounting and paperwork across two legal entities (registered in Ukraine and the UK)
• organization and maintenance of company paperwork online and offline:
  • ensuring proper storage of financial documents in the office according to legal and financial requirements of respective jurisdictions
  • maintaining efficient online file management across the two legal entities
• preparation and management of donor financial reporting and budgeting (including project budgets for grant proposals and financial grant reports)
• categorization of all payments in the corporate financial management system FinMap
• support for permanent/regular subcontractors in managing their FOP accounts in Ukraine (sending reminders, resolving tax issues as needed)
• close collaboration with other financial and management staff

Вимоги

• proficiency in Excel
• experience with file management, financial reporting, and accounting software (e.g., Vchasno, FinMap)
• strong command of the English language (upper-intermediate or advanced level)
• thorough knowledge of Ukrainian financial regulations
• strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure, including meeting tight deadlines with high accuracy
• effective communication skills for interacting with team members and external stakeholders
• understanding and alignment with the values of The Kyiv Independent
• flexibility and a willingness to learn and grow professionally
