OpenMinds is seeking a talented and dedicated Data Journalist/Analyst to join our team. The role involves exploring the complexities of social media and news data, as well as demographic, economic, and other types of data, to uncover insights into disinformation, narratives promoted by malign influence actors, and propaganda. This role calls for individuals with a blend of creative storytelling skills and analytical abilities.

• develop investigation & research hypotheses
• conduct an analysis synthesising data from diverse sources, including social media, behavioural data, and sociological studies
• collaborate with the technical team to ensure data accuracy and integrity
• utilise various analytical techniques such as sentiment analysis and narrative analysis to derive insights
• explore new methods to enhance analytical capabilities

Вимоги

• a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Economics, Social, Behavioural or Political Sciences, Communications, Data Science, or a related field
• minimum 1 year of experience as a data journalist working with large datasets
• strong statistical understanding and analytical skills
• demonstrated experience in data journalism or any other field related to storytelling through data
• exceptional writing and editing abilities
• fluency in English languages
• proficiency in data visualisation tools
• good to have fluency in Russian language (as Russian propaganda is our primary topic of research)
• experience with programming languages and statistical software (Python, SQL) will be an advantage
• basic design skills in Figma and/or Illustrator will be an advantage
• familiarity with backend systems and cloud computing platforms such as Google Cloud Platform will be an advantage
