Defense Reporter

The Kyiv Independent – Ukraine’s biggest English-language publication, is looking to fill a defense reporter position, covering Ukraine’s military production, military aid, battlefield developments, and defense tech. The position envisions occasional traveling to Ukraine’s front lines and military conferences abroad.

• pitching and writing exclusive, well-reported, and well-structured war-related stories
• proactively leading war coverage, including war analysis, battlefield overviews, defense production reports, and long-form war-related stories
• developing and maintaining a network of reliable sources

Вимоги

• experience covering the war in Ukraine
• deep understanding of military affairs
• proficiency in English (C1-C2 or native speaker level)
• proficiency in Ukrainian (ability to read and understand news updates, comprehend audio/video statements, and conduct interviews in Ukrainian)
• strong commitment to the values of independent journalism
