DW Akademie is Deutsche Welle's center for international media development, journalism training and knowledge transfer. DW's projects strengthen the human right to freedom of expression and independent decisions based on reliable facts and constructive dialogue.
Kyiv Hub is Deutsche Welle's representative office in Ukraine. The team includes reporters, editors, producers, camera operators and video editors. They report on political and social events in Ukraine in several languages, primarily in Ukrainian and English. With its video and text reports from Ukraine, Deutsche Welle reaches millions of people in Ukraine and around the world.
For the implementation of the projects, DW Akademie and Kyiv Hub are looking for a person with experience in working with international and/or grant-based organisations based in Kyiv. For the EU-funded project “Strengthening Independent Media for a strong democratic Ukraine” co-funded by the Federal Foreign Affairs Ministry of Germany and for general assistance tasks for Kyiv Hub (DW's office in Ukraine), the DW's team is looking for a Financial and Administrative Assistant.

maintaining financial and/or budget accounts and records in line with EU project guidelines and for DW's office in Ukraine
regulating cash management and preparing petty cash reports
assisting in pre-checking subgrantees’ financial reports and maintaining financial records
assisting in preparing work schedules for DW Ukraine journalists
pre-checking camera operators' and video editors' invoices as well as various contracts for Kyiv Hub
pre-checking partner reports
ensuring proper digital filing of documents and continuous information flow
assisting in procurement procedures for workshops and project events, including catering and transport/hotel bookings
handling general secretarial tasks
coordinating correspondence in various languages
maintaining contact with international partners, technical experts, and subgrantees
coordinating travel-related organizational tasks, including visas, flight reservations, and hotel bookings for in-house staff and occasionally for project experts
translating and interpreting basic communication between English/Ukrainian, Ukrainian/English, and German/Ukrainian, Ukrainian/German

Mandatory
at least bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accountancy, or a related field
strong knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
at least one year of experience working in an international environment
excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German, with native-level knowledge of Ukrainian
ability to work effectively in a team, handle a variety of tasks, and maintain a service-oriented approach
Desirable
interest in international development and/or the media sector
prior experience supporting EU or other international projects
Other Requirements
position based in Kyiv with the possibility of occasional remote work
availability for occasional business trips within Ukraine and to European countries, including visits to DW Headquarters in Germany
