Chief Writer/Chief Analyst supporting the Ministry of Economy

This vacancy is under the USAID/Ukraine State-Owned Enterprise Reform Activity (SOERA) project supported by Nickol Global Solutions (NGS). The Chief Writer/ Chief Analyst will support the Government of Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy to develop written materials regarding its activities, events, internet and social media, as well as internal and external communications initiatives to convey the Ministry’s main messages and key narratives regarding state owned enterprise reform efforts and policies.

• craft and shape messaging under the supervision of the head of the Ministry press office
• lead a team of writers/analysts in the Ministry press office
• draft news releases
• write articles and think pieces which support/explain the benefits of the MOE’s reform policy and related matters
• create web and social media written content
• develop content for presentations
• write speeches for the Ministry’s representatives
• develop talking points for media interviews, speaking opportunities and media events
• analyze international and national media coverage about state enterprise reform and incorporate positive messaging in the Ministry of Economy’s communications
• analyze significant data on state-owned enterprises reform, available from open sources. Perform similar tasks on other significant MOE-related topics
• verify information from open sources, checking its relevance and using it to strengthen communications about state-owned enterprises reform
• analyze the public discourse and media coverage on state-owned enterprises reform
• search open sources (particularly foreign ones) for helpful information to develop content
• compare expert reports and statements about state-owned enterprises reforms from politicians, officials, the business community and citizens to create balanced written communication materials
• ensure materials are relevant to current social discourse regarding state-owned enterprises reforms
• adapt content to different target audiences
• minimize negative narratives by developing written communications which provide an effective and persuasive counter argument supporting the GOU’s reform policy
• ensure communication materials are of the highest quality (grammar, spelling, syntax, etc.)
• provide clear and concise feedback on international inquiries (from government, business, academia, and others) on state-owned enterprises reform

Вимоги

• Bachelor’s degree in literature, humanities, public relations, media relations, journalism, strategic communications, government affairs, marketing, or other applicable fields
• 5+ years of writing experience for government entities and/or businesses
• experience drafting press releases, social media content, website content, op-ed, news articles, and marketing materials
• media monitoring experience
• fluency in business Ukrainian (written and oral)
• fluency in English
• computer literacy: MS Office and related applications
• knowledge and understanding of basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Social Media Marketing (SMM) tools and ability to apply them
• knowledge and experience of USAID projects and international donor projects a plus
• applicants must be Ukrainian nationals and based in Kyiv, Ukraine
