The mission of the United States Embassy is to advance the interests of the United States, and to serve and protect U.S. citizens in Ukraine.

monitors, analyzes, and prepares reports on a broad scope of complex political, social, and legal developments in Ukraine, based on published and unpublished sources and local contacts, intended for internal use and submission to Washington, DC.
liaises directly with the Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Office of the Ombudsperson, regional and local officials, NGOs, academics, and other government officials on Embassy business.
serves as an interpreter for high-ranking U.S. officials.
handles a specific portfolio that may include, but is not limited to, one or more of the following areas:
national, regional (oblast), and/or local (municipal) politics
legislative developments
foreign and security policy
non-proliferation and counterterrorism
human and civil rights
trafficking in persons, religious freedom
accountability for war crimes and crimes against humanity
U.S.-Ukraine bilateral relations and multilateral engagements

Option 1
Experience: at least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in analysis, journalism, government, or a civil society organization
Education: university degree in political science, international relations, public administration, or security studies
Option 2
Experience: at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in analysis, journalism, government, or a civil society organization
Education: 2 years of college/university studies
strong understanding of U.S. policy toward Ukraine and expertise in conducting analysis and reporting
thorough understanding of Ukraine’s political structure, institutions, and policies (political, economic, and social), as well as familiarity with parties, fractions, politicians, NGOs, and current trends
strong analytical skills to evaluate information, prepare reports, and execute research efficiently
ability to work under pressure, set priorities, and adapt rapidly
strong user-level MS Word, computer, and internet skills
high level of responsibility, judgment, and initiative
fluent in Ukrainian and English (writing/speaking/reading)
