Swisscontact is an independent non-profit development organisation established in 1959 by representatives of the Swiss private sector and civil society. The organisation’s work focuses on private sector-led, sustainable economic development and improved quality of life for all in developing and emerging countries. A key priority is strengthening the skills of individuals and fostering the competitiveness of businesses. Swisscontact operates in 40 countries with over 1000 employees and is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland.
In Ukraine, Swisscontact is currently implementing three projects: EdUP (vocational education), Empower AgriWomen (support for SMEs in the vegetable and livestock industries), and SIPPO (trade promotion). With the launch of the new FCDO-funded Building Livelihoods and Opportunities for Optimised Markets (BLOOM) program, the organisation is expanding its presence in the country.
The BLOOM program aims to strengthen the resilience of war-affected households and communities by restoring food production and livelihoods. It offers both on-farm and off-farm support and applies Market Systems Development (MSD) principles to address both immediate needs and systemic challenges.
